Greetings
from the Chairman of YFT Society of
Ontario
Congratulations
to
the 15th National
Convention of Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada in bilingualism
Happy
New Year!
Wishing
you
and all of
our Yee family the best in health and happiness in 2009!
Three
delegates of The Yee Fung Toy
(YFT) Society of Ontario, including myself, Ron and Bob Yee were
delighted to attend the 15th National Convention of YFT Society of
Canada which was held in Edmonton on August 6 – 10, 2008. Taking this
opportunity, we would like to thank members of YFT Society of Edmonton
for their great and warm hospitality which made us have a very
memorable stay.
In
the
5-day event, we had attended
meetings to discuss various issues and some proposals were brought up
by the delegates. I proposed our future meetings to be conducted in
bilingual languages, which are Chinese and English.
In my
3 consecutive terms as a Chairman
of YFT Society of Ontario, I’ve learned that language is a major
obstacle for our second generation of the Yee’s. One of my objectives
during my tenure is to recruit younger members to join our clan so that
they can recognize their ancestors and at the same time, they can find
their roots and interests in preserve the traditions of our forefathers
and honour our elders who made all of us here today possible. But due
to the language barrier, most of the youngest generations are
reluctance to join the Yee’s Society.
On
the
final day of our conference,
it’s pleased to note that the directors and members of YFT Society of
Canada were conducted the meeting in both Chinese and English languages.
In
closing, I would like to thank all
members of YFT Society of Canada for their continued dedications and
support to make our Yee Society a ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY.
