Welcome to the 62nd issue of the Yee Fung Toy Global
Village Voice, an electronic newsletter for the World
Yee community. In this issue we are featuring some of
the Autumn activities from the Yee associations around
the world.
Recently, around December, 2019, a new coronavirus —
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) — was detected in
Wuhan, China. This novel coronavirus causes a
respiratory (lung) infection.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is infecting people
and spreading easily from person-to-person. Cases have
been detected in most countries worldwide and
community spread is being detected in a growing number
of countries. On March 11, the COVID-19 outbreak was
characterized as a pandemic by the World Health
Organization (WHO).
Recommended measures to prevent the disease include
frequent hand washing, maintaining distance from other
people and not touching one's face. The use of masks
is recommended for those who suspect they have the
virus and their caregivers but not the general public.
Currently there is no vaccine or specific antiviral
treatment for COVID-19; management involves treatment
of symptoms, supportive care and experimental
measures.
Hopefully the biotech industry will develop novel
coronavirus vaccines soon!

Anniversary Celebration & Dinner
Immediately after our 89th
Anniversary Celebration, we discussed that our
subsequent 90th Anniversary should go regional. That
is regional celebrations to be once every five years
instead of ten. One decade lapse in between is too
long a time. A sub-committee was formed to organize
this function almost one year ago. We had very
capable members executing this tough job.
29th Nov, we greeted our
compatriots arriving from Peninsular Malaysia, East
Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Coaches were
waiting for them at Changi Airport and fetched all
guests to the prearranged hotels where they checked
in and freshened up. Welcome dinner was held at Yen
Palace.
30th Nov. It was a fun-filled day
visiting iconic Merlion at Marina Bay and
Singapore's newest attraction "The Jewel" at Changi
International Airport. Gala Dinner was held at Qian
Xi Restaurant. Our Guest-of-Honor was Mr Yee Chia
Hsing (余家興) Member of
Parliament, Chua Chu Kang GRC.
1st Dec. After breakfast, all
overseas guests were sent off at Changi Airport and
we bid farewell, safe flights to our distinguished
guests.

Hong Kong Yues Attend Fengcai
Huaqiao Zhongxue and Mokai Zhongxue Anniversary
Celebration
37 members of the Hong Kong Yue
Clansmen Association attended both Fengcai Huaqiao
Zhongxue 33rd Anniversary and Mokai 34th Anniversary
celebrations on December 12th and 13th respectively.
Scholarship awards were given out
to those well deserved students and teachers from
both schools.
We also visited the Kaiping
Overseas Chinese Museum and the Taishan Haikou
Yinxin Museum.

SCYFT 2020 Officers and Leadership
Team Installation
Chao Qiang Yu and Patrick Yee have
been selected as the new chairman and vice chairman
for year 2020, together with the supervisor of the
Lady Department Xiaoman (Sandra) and Next Generation
Group leader Warren Yee.
The installation took place on
Saturday, December 21st, 2019.

New England YFT 2020 New Officers
Installation & Winter Solstice
On December 22, YFT of NE installed
their newly elected officers for 2020, led by
President Ringo and Vice-President Paula. After the
installation, we celebrated Dong Gee (Winter
Solstice) with home-made dumplings. Many members
attended this annual event.

Sacramento YFT 2018 Christmas
Party
On Sunday, December 22nd, 2019, the
halls of the Sacramento Yee Fung Toy Family
Association added colorful Christmas decorations.
Our members came with their
children and grandchildren, over 150 people attended
this year’s Christmas Celebration. Children under
the age of 13 received gifts, red envelopes, love
and encouragement from Santa.

Celebration of the Restoration of
the Yee Jing Statue in Shaoquan Yee Jing Memorial
Museum
On December 27, 2019, ten members
of the Hong Kong Yues Clansmen Association attended
the celebration gala of the restored statue of Yee
Ancestor Yee Jing in Shaoquan.

Cheung Yee Re-elected as Sacramento YFT Presidents
The inauguration of 2020 Sacramento
Yee Fung Toy Officers was held at the Association
Hall on Sunday, January 5th, 2020.
After paying homage to our ancestor
at noon, the Inauguration Ceremony began, Guo Xi Yu
and Hok Cheung Yee were installed as our Chapter's
new President and Vice President. Congratulations!
Refreshments followed. A general
meeting was held afterwards.
Later that evening, a dinner party
for retiring and newly elected officers and their
spouses was held at a Chinese Restaurant.

Inauguration of Singapore Yee Clan
Association's 72nd Board-of-Directors
On Dec 22, 2019, 12 noon. Our
Election sub-committee chairman. opened the sealed
ballot box and started the counting procedure.
Helpful members were present to perform various
tasks. Counting was expeditious and smooth. Out of
40 nominees, 33 were voted into the 72nd
Board-of-Directors.
Mr Ee Boon Kwee was elected as the

Refreshments followed. A general
meeting was held afterwards.
Jan 12th, 2020, 12 noon. An
inauguration ceremony was held in the Association
Hall. New directors and some members were present.

this event.
After this inauguration ceremony,
the Annual General Meeting was held at 3pm.

Event
Persatuan Keturunan Yee Malaysia
and the Selangor Yee Association co-hosted a Spring
gathering event on February 2nd, 2020, 50 members
attended this festive event.

NE YFT 2020 Spring Festival/Senior
Appreciation Banquet
Yee Fung Toy Association of New
England celebrated its annual spring festival/senior
appreciation banquet on February 29 with close to
400 members and community guests in attendance.
Among the activities, scholarships and red envelopes
to members age 90 and older were handed out.
