Phoenix Yee Fung Toy 2025 Spring
Banquet - March 1, 2025

March 1, 2025, was a
busy and exciting day for the Phoenix
Yee Fung Toy Family Association! At
noon, the annual veneration ceremony and
luncheon were held and that evening, our
local families, friends, and guests
joined for the annual Spring Banquet.
Many out of town
guests attended the weekend festivities
with the Phoenix Yee families and
friends. These guests included: Western
Grand President for Yee Fung Toy Family
Association Mr. Sherman Yu and wife
Margaret, President of the San Francisco
Yee Fung Toy Family Association Mr.
Anthony Leong Yee and wife Jeannie as
well as Dr. Kin Yee, past President of
San Francisco Yee Fung Toy and current
board chairman of the San Francisco
Chinese hospital; Grand Elder for Yee
Fung Toy Family Association Mr. Alan Yee
and wife Edith and Grand Elder for the
Yee Fung Toy Family Association Mr.
Kenny Q. Yee, wife Phyllis and son
Joshua all attended from Southern
California.
We celebrated the
occasion with two roast pigs (one pig
was donated by Amanda Yu and the other
pig was donated by Sherman Yu), Church’s
fried chicken, chow mein, fried rice,
char sui, vegetables and many delicious
homemade dim sums and hometown pastries
from the Yee aunts and sisters. Everyone
enjoyed the food and fellowship,
reminiscing about the old days in their
hometowns.
In the evening, the
2025 Annual Yee Fung Toy Family
Association Spring Banquet was held at
the Great Wall Restaurant. We had a full
house that evening with more than 350
guests in attendance.
The evening began
with the dragon dance performed by Ty Ng
and family. It was truly a family affair
dance as it included their adorable
4-year-old daughter Mia dressed in her
own pink baby dragon. The baby dragon
took the spotlight and rightfully
received the most lai sees that evening.
The Emcee was Jason
Yee, our past President Rudy Yee’s
second son. He kept the evening very
lively and did a great job of mingling
with the guests. We had Year of the
Snake activities for the youth as well
as a selfie-station complete with plush
snakes and other Chinese New Year props.
Guests of all ages participated in the
selfie-station and took pictures with
the 2025 celebratory Year of the Snake
backdrop. Several out of town guests
heartily approved the inclusion of the
next generation and praised their active
involvement.
Honored out of town
guests and local community leaders and
guests were introduced. Arizona State
Treasurer Kimberly Yee and several out
of town guests gave speeches and welcome
remarks. President Brenda Yee Fung also
gave a short welcome speech. The guests
were served with a delicious 9-course
dinner and treated to different forms of
entertainment during the evening.
Another highlight of
the evening was a performance by the
very talented Victoria Valead. She sang
two of her famous songs in Cantonese and
Mandarin - with her performance even
more impressive because she is not
Chinese.
Then, we had our Yee
Fung Toy Family’s raffle drawings. The
drawings were conducted by our beloved
Uncle John’s third son Paul K. Yee and
his little helper, Jack Yee (State
Treasurer Kimberly Yee and Dr. Nelson
Mar’s son) throughout the dinner. Prizes
included Year of the Snake themed table
souvenirs and door prizes (donated by
Board Chairman David M. Yee • family),
lai sees (cash donated by Mrs. Willie M.
Yee, Mrs. Jerry M. Yee, Dean Yee, Larry
Yee, Brenda Yee Fung and others), Great
Wall Restaurant gift certificates
(donated by Great Wall Restaurant),
China Chili Restaurant gift certificates
(donated by China Chili Restaurant) and
Starbucks gift cards donated by Chinese
United President Helen Zhang. There were
happy faces everywhere at the tables
with many lucky winners.
The current Phoenix
Yee Fung Toy Family Association’s
Officers were then introduced. The
President is Brenda Yee Fung, the five
Vice Presidents are Dean K. Yee, Jason
Yee, Larry Yee, Paul Yee and Amanda Yu;
the English Secretary is Jack JF Yee,
the Assistant English Secretary is
Vangie Yee Song, and the Chinese
Secretary is Fu Keung Yu. Officers gave
toasts to our guests and families and
wished everyone good health and good
luck in the Year of the Snake!
This year, Mrs.
Betty Yee and Mrs. Buddy Hing, co-chairs
of the Phoenix Yee Fung Toy Family
Association Scholarship Department
awarded three scholarships. The
recipients were Amanda Yee (high
school), Madison Yue (high school) and
Caleb Yee (8th grade). Congratulations
to our scholars and to their families!
The program came to
a close with the grand prize drawing: a
42-inch color TV donated by Mrs. Willie
M. Yee; the winner was Mark Yee, her
nephew.
With all the good
company, food, entertainment and prizes,
everyone went home happy that evening!
Wishing everyone good health and good
luck for the Year of the Snake and many
happy returns!

Annual
Fall Picnic
On
Saturday, October 25, 2025, the Phoenix
Yee Fung Toy Family Association held our
Annual Fall Picnic at the Phoenix Steele
Indian School Park with nearly 300 Yee
clan and family members and friends in
attendance.
It
was one of the largest numbers of
attendees we have had in recent years.
That afternoon, we served up 300 pieces
of fried chicken from our famous
Church’s Fried Chicken Restaurant, as
well as 5 large trays of stir-fried
chicken, tofu and vegetables, chow-mein
and egg rolls. The egg rolls were
donated by Mr. Kim Hoi Yee (one of our
elders). Our hard-working grilling crew
also cooked up delicious hamburgers and
chili dogs.
Various assortments of soda, bottled
water; watermelon and Palmerie cookies
were served as desserts. Food was
prepared and delivered in time for the
arrival of the honored guests, members
and friends to enjoy.
This year, we were honored to have Mr.
Sherman Yu from San Francisco, our
current Western Grand President of the
Yee Fung Toy Family Association, and Mr.
Kenny Yee from Los Angeles, our current
Southern California Grand Elder for the
Yee Fung Toy Family Association, join
us.
At
noon time, Brenda Yee Fung, President of
Phoenix Yee Fung Toy Family Association,
gave a welcome speech and wished
everyone an enjoyable day together.
Jason Yee, our Chapter’s Vice President,
gave a blessing over the food before the
lunch was served. Everyone received the
meal in an orderly manner and sat around
to visit and reminisce about the old
times. Many of the younger generation
also came to the event and enjoyed games
of corn-hole toss and other children’s
games in the children’s entertainment
area.
The
highlight of the day was the raffle
prize drawing, led by Stephanie Yee and
Paul K. Yee and their crew, which
included prizes for the children and
adults. More than sixty prizes were
given out and an exciting new twist this
year was allowing the winners to choose
their own prizes. It was quite a happy
scene with winners of all ages showing
their wide-eyes at the prizes available
to select. Additionally, two special
grand prizes generously provided by
National Grand President Sherman Yu/SF
and by Grand Elder Kenny Yee/LA. Of
course, it was the most popular activity
of the day.
This year we partnered with North High
School National Honor Society Program
again. The Program’s honor students
volunteered and helped to load and
transport additional folding chairs and
tables from the clan hall to the Picnic
site early in the morning. They also
helped to set up the tables and chairs
for the event. We would like to give
them very special thanks for helping.
We
would also like to give special thanks
to our own Yee clan volunteers and
helpers who came to help us set up and
stay behind to help clean as well!
We
wish you all good health and happy
returns next year!
Respectfully
submitted,
Brenda Yee
Fung President of the Phoenix Yee Fung
Toy Association
