                      | 2022 Ching Ming Celebration in Vancouver
We had a good turnout (see photos), with many we
have not seen during the pandemic. The light
rain reminded us of the poem on Ching Ming by
Tang Dynasty poet Du Mu, which reminded me of
the very first Ching Ming report on our World
                        Yee online newsletter Issue #3,
                          Summer Issue in 2005.
Things have changed, people have changed. Kai Yi
was the one who took care of getting the food
and other supplies. No one brought any paper
copy of the ceremony program. Victor brought up
images of these documents on his phone, and
proceeded to read from them for the steps to
follow. We went through the usual routine,
except we forgot about the ¡§remembrance of our
                        departed members¡¨ speech in English.
At the end, Bill and George set off the
firecrackers. In 2005 it was also a George Yee
(but of an older generation) who did the
firecrackers. We then took the afterlife bank
notes and burn them as offerings to our
                        ancestors.
We all went back to the Hall for a brief
ceremony, then to Floata for lunch. We started
with roast pork and chicken used in the
Mountainview ceremony, then congee, fried rice,
noodles, and greens from Floata, before sharing
some sweet pastries from the ceremony to take
home. Charles was a guest from Toronto. He is
the son of Mrs. Sui Ji in town to visit his
mother. Photos courtesy of Victor Yu and Phillip Yu. Jim

Six Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada board members
met with the World Yee Family Association
founder, Mr. Johnson Yee on Wednesday, April
13th for a social gathering and afternoon tea at
the Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant. Mr. Johnson Yee gave us a donation refund cheque on behalf of the Macau Yee clan, he told us that the Macau Fung Toy Building project was scraped, their elders and high level board members decided to refund all donations to the oversea donors.
He also gave us the list of Canadian donors to
be refunded. We thank him and agreed to follow
                        his instructions . Martin

                      | My visit to Edmonton YFT
It took me about 4 hours to drive from Canmore
(Where I was staying, a few days getaway from
Calgary) to Edmonton. I told §E
^µØ²z¨Æªø that I drove from Calgary, as not
many folks know where Canmore is. Canmore
is a town in Alberta, Canada, located
approximately 81 kilometers (50 mi) west of
Calgary near the southeast boundary of Banff
                        National Park.
I started driving at 7:30am, taking a few breaks
in between, arriving Edmonton YFT at 12:20pm. We
                        were welcomed by §E^µØ²z¨Æªø
                        and §E°ê°òºÊ¨Æªø, they
                        showed us around their °ó©Ò.
it has an office with computers, kitchen and a
big space for mahjong tables. There were 2
mahjong tables playing at the time. After some
pictures taking, they presented me with a poem
written in Chinese (they put it in a picture
frame) to commemorate my visit. That was very
thoughtful of them, because it takes time and
                        effort to write it.
Then we headed to the Chinese Restaurant for
lunch. They purposely arranged a lunch instead
of a dinner, because they don't want me to drive
about 3 and 1/2 hours back to Calgary at night
after dinner. I met other board members at the
restaurant. I thought this would be a dim sum
lunch. No, they ordered a 9-dishes plus fresh
fruit banquet style dinner, includes soups,
lobster, prawns, scallops, chicken and salmon.
                        I met ¦WÅA¥D®u §EªL®Ì at the
restaurant, he is currently 95 years old, still
healthy and has good memory, See attached
picture "Lunch with Board members", he is the
man in the front row on the left-hand side
holding his hat on his lap. He is the original
guy who started and setup the Edmonton YFT.
The lunch last until 2:30pm. It was a very good
                        visit.
