端午節慶祝活動

點問頓余風采堂於六月二十日（星期六）舉行端午節慶祝活動。

超過一百二十位人士前來參加活動，大家都玩得很開心，也很高興看到多位年輕人一同參與。

這項年度慶祝活動，是大家相聚的好機會。活動也提醒年輕一代欣賞並延續中華傳統文化。

總括來說，這次慶祝活動非常成功。

活動讓會員和朋友聚在一起，也增添了一份溫暖的社區情誼。

衷心感謝所有義工付出的時間、努力和支持，讓這次活動能夠順利成功。

Dragon Boat Festival Celebration

The Yee Fung Toy Society of Edmonton celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, June 20.

More than 120 people came out to enjoy the event, and it was especially nice to see several young people join in too.

This yearly celebration is a great way for everyone to get together. It also helps remind younger generations to appreciate and keep Chinese traditions alive.

Overall, the celebration was a big success.

It brought members and friends together and helped build a warm sense of community.

A big thank-you goes to all the volunteers for their time, hard work, and support in helping make this event such a success.

<七夕慕仙節>
華夏傳說故事殊，七夕焚香燃絳燭。
虔心敬慕七仙女，滿案鮮陳供果腴。
女兒乞巧求妙術，仰天拜月祈神護。
星河璀璨爭相睹，牛郎織女鵲橋渡。

點問頓余風采堂於 2026年農曆七月初三，在會所舉辦了一場七夕預祝小型派對。參加者包括風采堂與風采體育會的理監事及家屬，高齡資深理事馬瑞韶、馬凱旋、馬錦尚等馬氏世表及其隨行親人，以及常到堂會打麻將的朋友，共約五十人出席。風采堂準備了各式水果和點心，包括橙、數種李子、白玉桃、香蕉、紅草莓、藍莓、多種葡萄、西瓜、哈密瓜和大叉燒包等；此外，多位理事也捐助了不少食品。

穗楹捐蛋撻，國基捐炒粉，英華捐黑芝麻糊，偉毅捐炸雞粒和蛋卷，景秋捐芝麻糕、馬豆糕，德勇捐桂花糕，聰穎捐椰絲糯米糍，耀枱捐臘腸花卷，玉珍捐發糕，翠明捐香蘭綠豆糕。各式食品擺滿一張大乒乓球桌，品種豐富、色香俱全，令人垂涎欲滴。

上午十一時半，賓客齊集後，英華理事長致歡迎詞。他首先介紹七夕慕仙在鄉下的習俗：農曆七月初七，家家戶戶多以水果和芝麻糊作為主要祭品，擺上七種水果、七碗芝麻糊或花生糊、七杯茶和七枝燃香。據傳，這是為迎接七仙女下凡享用。其後，大家到陽台或室外觀賞星空，遙望銀河鵲橋，以及明亮的牛郎星和織女星。

本次活動食品多樣，旨在讓大家重溫鄉下習俗與文化。英華理事長還介紹了農曆一月至十二月的傳統節日與習俗：正月初一為春節，十五為元宵節；二月初二吃艾葉糍，並有清明節；三月初三吃狗仔圓（以菠蘿藤葉粉製作）；五月有端午節；六月有盂蘭節，俗語稱燒花紙、施衣給遊魂野鬼；七月初七慕仙（亦有一說為慕星）；八月十五中秋賞月；九月初九重陽登高、放紙鳶；十一月食冬圓；十二月則有小年夜與除夕。這些都是華夏幾千年累積下來的習俗文化，也展現了華夏人的精彩生活。

英華理事長逐一感謝捐助食物的理事，隨後自助午宴正式開始，大家盡情分享各樣美食，堂內笑語滿堂。這樣別具特色的七夕派對，在華人社團中並不常見。 103 歲的馬端韶世表笑著豎起大拇指，以「別開生面」四字稱讚這次派對。

Qixi Festival Pre-celebration

Yee Fung Toy Society of Edmonton held a small pre-celebration party for the Qixi Festival at its clubhouse on the third day of the seventh month of the 2026 lunar calendar. About fifty people attended.

Participants included directors, supervisors, members, and family members of Yee Fung Toy Society of Edmonton and the Fung Toy Athletic Club; senior Ma clan members such as Ma Rui Shao, Ma Kai Xuan, and Ma Jin Shang, together with their accompanying relatives; and friends who often come to the association to play mahjong. Fung Toy Tong prepared a wide variety of fruits and snacks, including oranges, several kinds of plums, white peaches, bananas, red strawberries, blueberries, various grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, and large barbecued pork buns. Several directors also generously donated food.

Food donations included egg tarts from Stan, fried noodles from Jerome, black sesame sweet soup from Ying Hua, fried chicken pieces and egg rolls from Eric, sesame cake and red bean pudding from Ken Qiu, osmanthus cake from De Yong, coconut glutinous rice balls from Cong Ying, Chinese sausage flower rolls from Yao Tai, steamed fortune cakes from Yu Zhen, and pandan mung bean cake from Cui Ming. The many dishes filled a large ping-pong table, presenting a rich variety of colours, aromas, and flavours that made the spread especially inviting.

At 11:30 a.m., after the guests had gathered, Chairman Ying Hua delivered a welcoming speech. He first introduced the hometown customs associated with the Qixi Festival and the practice of honouring the Seven Fairies. On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, families traditionally prepare fruit and sesame sweet soup as the main offerings.

The table is set with seven kinds of fruit, seven bowls of sesame or peanut sweet soup, seven cups of tea, and seven sticks of burning incense. According to tradition, these offerings welcome the Seven Fairies as they descend to earth. Afterwards, people go to the balcony or outdoors to admire the night sky, gaze toward the Magpie Bridge across the Milky Way, and look for Altair and Vega, representing the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.

The event featured a wide variety of food and was intended to help everyone revisit hometown customs and culture. Chairman Ying Hua also introduced traditional festivals and customs observed throughout the lunar year, from the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival in the first lunar month to Little New Year’s Eve and Lunar New Year’s Eve in the twelfth.

He also spoke about customs such as eating mugwort glutinous rice cakes in the second lunar month; eating “dog-shaped” glutinous rice dumplings in the third; celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival in the fifth; observing the Ullambana Festival in the sixth; honouring the Seven Fairies, or worshiping the stars, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month; admiring the Mid-Autumn moon; climbing to high places and flying kites during the Double Ninth Festival; and eating winter solstice rice dumplings in the eleventh lunar month. These customs represent thousands of years of accumulated Huaxia cultural tradition and reflect the richness and vibrancy of Chinese community life .

Chairman Ying Hua thanked each of the directors who had donated food, after which the buffet luncheon officially began. Everyone enjoyed sharing the many delicious dishes, and the hall was filled with cheerful conversation and laughter. Such a distinctive Qixi Festival party is rarely seen among Chinese community associations. The 103-year-old Ma Duan Shao gave a smiling thumbs-up and praised the party with the four-character expression “a refreshing and original occasion.”.

點城余風采堂舉行預祝中秋節聚會

耆英歡聚慶中秋，月到中秋分外明。
鶴髮童顏相映處，桂香菊艷共舒榮。
閒談往昔風華茂，笑看今朝氣象新。
莫道桑榆霞色晚，金樽對月樂升平。

點城余風采堂於九月十九日（星期六）上午十一時舉行中秋節慶祝聚會。到場參加者共一百三十人，絕大多數為耆英長者；馬氏世表亦有十六人出席，另有多個社團的負責人前來助興。九十九歲的本會風采堂首任理事長余林晃康復後也蒞臨聚會，令大家非常高興，並紛紛與他合影留念。

是次聚會備有免費午餐，每位來賓均獲贈一個月餅，並享用各式燒味、炒麵、炒菜等唐食。宗親朋友見面後熱情交談；大家雖已滿頭銀髮，卻依然精神飽滿、笑容可掬，彼此親切問候，情誼深厚，互敬互愛。

本次聚會由理監事長英華、國基籌劃部署，副理事長偉毅、惠銘、國璇及副監事長德勇積極配合；理事耀台、聰穎、美玲、玉珍、俏娟、佩慈各司其職，負責來賓登記及食物分發。名譽主席余景秋亦親力親為，為來賓送上月餅。整場聚會氣氛融洽、歡樂溫馨，至下午一時圓滿結束。

YFT Edmonton Celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival

The full moon of the Mid-Autumn Festival symbolizes togetherness, and the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month has long been a cherished time for family and friends to gather. In this spirit of reunion, the Yee’s Society of Edmonton organized a special celebration to strengthen the bonds within our community on Saturday, September 19.

One of the evening’s highlights was the presence of several members who are approaching 100 years of age. Their attendance brought great honour and significance to the occasion, and we were especially grateful for the opportunity to celebrate across generations.

We were deeply honoured to welcome Uncle Frank, one of the longstanding pillars of the Yee’s Society. His presence made the celebration particularly meaningful. We were equally honoured to welcome Uncle Hoi-Shuen of the Mah clan, who made a special effort to join us for the celebration.

With more than one hundred members and guests in attendance, the gathering was filled with warmth, laughter, and a strong sense of community. Each participant received a mooncake and a boxed meal as a small token of the Society’s appreciation.

Most importantly, the celebration brought people together in the true spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival—a time for family, friendship, remembrance, and gratitude. We shared an evening of happiness and fellowship, creating cherished memories while carrying forward the traditions and sense of community passed down through generations.

May the spirit of the full moon continue to unite our Yee’s Society, and may our fellowship grow stronger for generations to come.
