Over a hundred participated in this year picnic with 31 students, from Kindergartners to College Senior received scholarships.

Wonderful food, great prizes and mutual friendship help made this year's picnic another success.

Our next scheduled event to be held in Seattle from August 11-14 will be the 24th US National Yee Convention. It will be a historical one, a first for the Seattle Yees. New England YFT 2012 Summer Outing

The annual summer outing of New England Yee Fong Toy this year was held at Lake Cochituate's AmVet Post 79 in Natick on Saturday, July 28th 2012. The number of people in attendance was close to a hundred. The Cook Out menu included hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken-wings, corn-on the cob, salads, cookies, watermelons and juices.

People started arrival at 10:30AM. Members and friends arrived via various means of transportation. Yee President, Kin-Sun supplied a van while other members carpooled. Our Grand President, Peter, led the team cooking on the grill around 11:00AM. The women helped wrap the hamburgers and hot dogs in the aluminum foil and packed the food into box lunches. Some help on cooking corn while others set up the table with napkins, forks, knives, spoons, salads, cookies and juices. …etc.

The music played on and the lunch started with tickets collected for the raffle prizes around 1:00 PM. The weather could not have been better. (Forecast was for heavy downpours during the afternoon but was sunny, calm with a slight breeze) Some participants stayed under the cover while others went swimming. Plenty of pictures were also taken of the various activities.

Games for all ages were created by our Recreation Director, Susan. Included (1) Egg Race, (2) Over/Under Passing, (3) Chicken walk/Hop and (4) Water Race. Also, the last play game was “Family Feud”, which was very exciting and showed off the talents of our members. Prizes were awarded to the winners who were overjoyed.

It was evident that everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed sharing the laughter and friendship. As the six-year-old grandson (Brendan Yee) of a Yee family member asked his grand-mom “When will he be able to come back to play again?”

Melinda Du, New England
