to the 65th issue of the Yee Fung Toy Global Village
Voice, an electronic newsletter for the World Yee
community. In this issue we are featuring Summer
activities from the Yee family associations around the
world. As 2020 comes to a close, we, at Yee Fung Toy Global Village Voice would like to extend our wishes to you and your family, for a most wonderful Holiday Season. Thank you for your continued support. We are proud to serve such loyal and discerning readers. We’ve been through a lot this year. We’ve
skipped celebrations. We’ve canceled vacations. We’ve
missed out on milestones. As we head into the
holidays, there’s no doubt those will look different
too. We’ve been forced to adjust how we do just about
everything. And while I know we’re all anxious to put
2020 behind us, as I look back on the year, I find
myself filled with gratitude. This year has been unlike any other. But I
am confident that if we can overcome the challenges
we’ve faced in 2020, there is no obstacle we can’t
conquer together in 2021. It’s been a challenging year, to say the least. And with the continued need for physical distancing, mask-wearing and rigorous hand washing, this holiday season will be unlike any other. In keeping with the Provincial, State and Government Health Officer’s orders, we encourage you to celebrate only with those in your households, and avoid non-essential travel. We wish you all a happy, healthy, safe holiday. We thank all those who have made contributions to this issue, including:

Vancouver Thailand Yu Clansmen at Samut Songkhram         Thailand Yu Clansmen members, led by President Yu Seng Ching, traveled to Samut Songkhram on Friday, September 18th, to attend the annual Xu, Yu, Tu and She Clansmen Association Autumn event. During the
evening singing program, members of Xu, Yu, Tu and
She Clansmen are performing with their best and

Thailand Yu Clansmen Double Ten National Day Celebration           Members of the Yu Clan Association of Thailand, led by President Seng Ching Yu, attended the Double Ten Celebration, organized by The Chinese Association in Thailand (Chong Hua) and the Chinese Community of Thailand at The Grand Four Wings Convention Hotel in eastern Bangkok on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020. Yee Jing Memorial Museum Unveiled       At 3 p.m. on October 12th, the first and second floors of the DiHai Fung Toy Hall were carefully renovated for nearly two months to be displayed as the Yee Jing Historical Memorial Hall, and the opening ceremony was held under the auspices of The Party Secretary of Kaiping City, Pang Zhenghua, and Mayor Ma Pingao. Some members of the leadership team of the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and some of the new leading cadres at the department level participated in the event.

1020th Birthday Celebration of Great Ancestor ZhongXiang Gong     In the golden Autumn of October, when clumps of Osmanthus flowers are in full bloom, the scent would be quite refreshing! On the morning of October 24, 2020, nearly 130 people from Toishan, Kaiping, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, descendants of ZhongXiang Gong, gathered at the Fung Toy Memorial Hall, they are full of piety, gratitude to their ancestors, to participate in the celebration of the 1020th birthday of Great Ancestor (Taizu) ZhongXiang Gong. Academician Aibing Yu visited DiHai Fung Toy Hall      On the Sunday afternoon of November 15th, Professor Aibing Yu, (Vice Chancellor's Professorial Fellow, Pro Vice-Chancellor and President - Suzhou Department of Chemical Engineering), accompanied by Kaiping City leader Xu Yongfeng and Yu Rongshu, visited our DiHai Fung Toy Hall and his alma mater - Fengcai Zhongxue (Fung Toy Middle School). Under the guidance of Yu Wenhai and Yu Jinzhao, Yu Aibing visited the Fung Toy Hall, the Yee Jing Historical Memorial Museum, the Yee's History Room in Southern Guangdong province and the "Fung Toy Art Garden" (under planned construction), and he greatly appreciated the architectural work of the Fung Toy Hall. He said: "Having more than forty years away from my alma mater, from the moment I entered the door to now standing here, every place is worth remembering, full of my previous footprints, I have been studying, reading books and playing sports here." " My previous impression here is only a school, there is no concept of the hall, now by the Yee clan people to raise funds and the government's strong support to renovate, now more magnificent. During his visit to the Yee Jing Historical Memorial Hall, which was recently renovated, he gave full recognition to the Kaiping Municipal Government's long-standing support for the renovation of the Hall, the vigorous promotion of the culture of the Hall, the culture of integrity, and the promotion of the 100-year-old Fung Toy Hall to play an active social influence in cultural heritage. Professor Aibing Yu was doing his PhD in metallurgy when his eyes were opened to the complex field of particle research, beginning a rapid career trajectory with profound impact in both academia and industry. One of the most influential experts in chemical and process engineering globally, Professor Yu’s particular focus lies in particle science – the physics behind how the tiny specks that make up much of our universe behave and interact. In three decades of sustained contribution, he has led the development of advanced simulation and modelling techniques that have brought greater understanding to the field and driven new applications that impact our everyday lives. As the President, Professor Yu leads the Monash Suzhou campus which is a joint venture with Southeast University (SEU). Monash is the first and thus far, the only Australian university who has got the approval from the Chinese Government to establish a postgraduate research school in China. The joint venture is composed of a SEU-Monash Joint Graduate School and a Joint Research Institute and provide a research hub for about 1,500 research students, aiming to become a world-class research and training centre in China. Professor Yu has developed research collaboration with various industrial organizations including Bluescope Steel, BHP-Billiton, Alcoa, Xstrata, BMA, ACARP, Johnsons and Johnsons, Minco Technologies, Cement Australia, Rio Tinto, Weir Minerals and many overseas R&D organizations such as Kawasaki Steel (Japan), China Steel (Taiwan), POSCO (South Korea), Tata Steel (India), BaoSteel, Longking and JITRI (China).
