The New Year brings with it a fresh start, new

attempt to improve ourselves and to be better
towards others. As we celebrate the New Year,
the Yee Fung Toy Society of Vancouver Board

Canada YFT HQ and Vancouver YFT Spring Annual Get-together Dinner        
The Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada and the Yee
Fung Toy Society of Vancouver co-hosted an
annual Spring get-together Dinner for the
officers and spouses before the arrival of the
traditional Chinese Spring Festival on Tuesday,
January 15th at the Kings Chinese Cuisine
Restaurant.
This annual event provides a unique opportunity
for the YFT staff and spouses to socialize and
to share their company and enjoy their mutual
interactions.
Dinner attendees wishing each other good health,
wealth and prosperity for the upcoming Chinese

The Yee Fung Toy of Canada celebrates 115th Anniversary  
The Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada celebrated
its 115th anniversary and the Chinese Lunar New
Year of the Pig, on February 24th, 2019.

2019 Ching Ming in Vancouver           Qingming, also known as the Ching Ming Festival, is a Chinese custom also found in other Asian cultures and celebrated around the world. Sometimes called Tomb Sweeping Day or Pure Brightness, which is the literal English translation of qingming, this celebration is held annually. Set aside to remember and honour ancestors who have passed away. On Sunday, March 31st, around 11:00am, fifteen members of the YFT Society of Vancouver and Canada gathered at the Mountainview Cemetery to attend the annual Ching Ming memorial service. Martin Yee |

Tse Clansman Association 44th Anniversary Celebration                      
Our Vancouver Tse cousins celebrated their 44th
and their women group's 26th anniversary on
Sunday, April 21st, banquet was held at the Pink
Pearl Restaurant.

Mah Society of Canada 100th Anniversary and 20th Convention Gala                
The 100th Anniversary Celebration and the 20th
National Convention Gala of the Mah Society of
Canada was held at the Floata Seafood Restaurant
on Saturday, May 18th, 2019.
Congratulations to the Mahs for a successful
Convention!
The gala event on Saturday was very spectacular
and impressive for the guests who attended from
within our Chinatown Community as well as from
outside.

Mah Convention Delegates Visit YFT           
Special thanks to our cousin William Ma for
taking the time and arranging a such a good
turnout on Sunday to visit our clubhouse and
attend the dinner at Fraser Court.
It is very heart warming to see the beautiful
friendship that continues to develop between our
two Societies.

溫哥華余風采堂慶耆英生日會暨雙親節及歌唱班十五週年紀念

Vancouver Seniors Committee Celebrate Their Member's Birthday      
The YFT Seniors Committee under the leadership
of Mr. And Mrs. Shui Chi Yu organized a birthday
lunch for members on Wednesday June 12 when 42
of us gathered in the VIP room of the Pink Pearl
Restaurant to enjoy a 10 course lunch complete
with soup, dessert and traditional Chinese
birthday buns. Members celebrating birthdays
between January 1 and June 30 receive packets of
noodles as gifts.
Members of the YFT Singing Group provided
Karaoke entertainment before and after lunch
with the help of their singing teacher. Before
we adjoin to the main dining hall to take group
photos, I
took the microphone and introduced a couple of
special guests who joined us at lunch: Larry Yee
whose late mother Shirley was the Seniors chair
who organized these lunches before she passed
away in April 2019, and Crystal Yee who was
introduced to us by William Ma at the Mah
Society of Canada Convention in May 2019.
Crystal has been actively involved in organizing
members' activities at the Mah Society of
Vancouver and was interested in organizing a
Yee-Mah day trip this summer.
She invited up to join in activities currently
being held at the Mah Society of Vancouver
clubhouse at 418 E. Hastings St.
These include: Table Tennis: 2 – 5 pm Monday,
Wednesday, and Friday Jim Yee |

Ancestor Chung-Sheung's（寶誕）1019th Anniversary   
Members of The Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada
and the Vancouver YFT Chapter commemorate the
anniversary of ancestor Yee Chung-Sheung's
1019th birthday（寶誕）on
Sunday, July 14, 2019.
After the ceremony, we went to the Floata
Seafood Restaurant for a delicious lunch.

Seattle Yee Fung Toy Family Association 65th Annual Picnic  
YFT Vancouver Advisor Jim Yee and I drove to
Seattle's Woodland Park picnic area #3 on July
28th to attend the Seattle Yee Fung Toy Family
Association 65th Annual Picnic and scholarship
awards ceremony.
After the picnic, the Seattle Yee’s hosted us to
an awesome Beijing Roasted Duck Dinner at

Mah Society of Vancouver Summer Picnic   
 
The Mah Society of Vancouver invited us to
their Summer Picnic at the Trout Lake Park on
Sunday, July 28th.
Our Mah cousin’s picnic program started with a
lion dance, followed by the Mah Athletic
Association members performing their martial
arts. After the performance ended everyone
lined up to pick up their lunch.
The Yees had a fantastic time at the Mah's
picnic. We thanked our Mah cousins for
inviting us to their summer outing. We all
love it, thanks! See you again next year!

Mr. and Mrs. Ru Lin Li Birthday Celebration       
Mr. and Mrs. Ru Lin Li celebrate their 91st and
90th birthdays on August 25th at the Fraser
Court Seafood Restaurant.
Members of the Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada
and Vancouver were invited to attend.
Mrs. Li is a long time member of the Yee Fung
Toy Society.
We all wishing them a beautiful day with good

Vancouver CBA Celebrates PRC 70th Anniversary Gala          
The Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver
and the Chinese Community celebrate the 70th
Anniversary of the Founding of the People's
Republic of China on Sunday, September 22nd,
2019 at the Floata Seafood Restaurant.
The Vancouver Yees joined in this festive gala
along with 140 plus participating organizations,
representatives from the three levels of
government and Madame Tong Xiaoling, Consul
General of the PRC, were also in attendance.
The Celebration program included Lion Dance,
singing of both PRC and Canada national anthems,
opening address by Mr. Hilbert Yiu, President of
the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver,
followed by greetings from Madame Tong Xiaoling,
Consul General of the People's Republic of China
in Vancouver, and other honorable guests.

Vancouver YFT Observed Double Ninth Festival              
Members of the YFT Society of Canada and
Vancouver celebrate the Double Ninth or
Chongyang Festival at 11:00am on Sunday, October
13 at the Mountainview Cemetery Chinese
Pavilion.
In ancient times, people believed that the
double ninth day was worth a celebration. Since
folk people had the tradition of climbing a
mountain on that day, the Chongyang Festival is
also called the Height Ascending Festival. The
Chongyang Festival also has other names, such as
the Chrysanthemum Festival. As "double ninth" is pronounced the same as the word meaning "forever," ancestors are also worshiped on that day.
After the Mountainview memorial ceremony, we
drove to the YFT Hall for our ancestor ceremony.

Vancouver YFT Christmas and Seniors Birthday Luncheon                 
As the Christmas countdown continues, our
Vancouver YFT Seniors and Women Group held a
Christmas and Seniors members birthday luncheon
on Sunday, December 15th.
Fifty four members and guests attended this
event, the luncheon program was emceed by Esther
Yue, with karaoke and prize draws.
