Welcome to the 85th issue of the Yee Fung
Toy Global Village Voice, an electronic newsletter for
the World Yee community. In this issue we are
featuring Autumn activities from the Yee family
associations around the world. Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, 2025 is already nearing its end. Looking back, what memories and experiences from this year are worth treasuring? Where did you travel this year, what major life events occurred, and what large-scale events did you attend? When reflecting on past experiences, memories of moments when assistance was received arise, evoking a sense of human warmth and kindness, and fostering gratitude. Through reflection, it also allows the future path to be walked more steadily and clearly. Merry Christmas! May your Christmas be filled with love and laughter, and may the New Year be full of joy and hope! We thank all those who have made contributions to this issue, including:
Martin Yee, Vancouver Dr. John Yee, honored with 2025 Order of British Columbia UBC
Surgery faculty member, Dr. John Yee, Associate
Professor in the Division of Thoracic Surgery, was
appointed to the Order of British Columbia, the
province¡¦s highest form of recognition. He is
recognized for his life saving leadership in lung
transplantation and cancer screening, delivering
world-class care and hope to patients in British
Columbia, Canada. Dr.
John Yee has revolutionized Thoracic Surgery in B.C.
through his exceptional leadership, surgical skill,
and dedication to patients. As head of BC
Transplant¡¦s Lung Transplant Program, he performed
97% of the province¡¦s lung transplants over the past
20 years, including a record 77 double lung
transplants in 2023. The
Order of British Columbia recognizes those persons
who have served with the greatest distinction and
excelled in any field of endeavor benefiting the
people of British Columbia and beyond. The Order
represents the highest form of recognition the
Province can extend to its citizens. Born to
immigrant parents in Montreal, Dr. Yee returned to
Canada from his faculty position at the University
of Michigan in 2003 and committed to rebuild a
program that completed only one double lung
transplant the year prior. British Columbians now
benefit from one of Canada¡¦s highest per capita
rates of lung transplant access with a median
survival of nearly double the global average. In
2022, Dr. Yee helped launch Canada¡¦s first
provincially funded lung cancer screening
initiative.
Generations of surgeons mentored by Dr. Yee hold
academic appointments worldwide. A compassionate
physician, educator, and visionary leader, Dr. Yee
continues to shape the future of healthcare in B.C.
through innovation, excellence and unwavering
service.

This was the second year we held this event, and like the previous year, it was well attended with over 100 members and friends enjoying a day of bowling a delicious lunch. They were treated to a lunch of pizzas, salads, soft drinks, cookies, and Halloween candies; plus two hours of ¡§open bowling¡¨. Later,
our group met in a dining area for our raffle of
door prizes, giant pumpkins, mums and the highlight
of our event, ¡§Best Halloween Costume¡¨. We had 20
kids and 15 adults enter our contest and since we
wanted to recognize every contestant, every
participants was given a ¡§Red Envelope¡¨ and the best
adult and child costume were given a ¡§Grand Prize¡¨.
Overall, based on feedback from all attendees, this

San Francisco YFT HQ Christmas Party and Winter Solstice
December 21, 2025 was the happiest day for most of
our young Yee in our Association. Yee Fung Toy
Family Association in San Francisco gave away
Christmas gifts, food, and Lai See to our youngsters
(up to 12 years old). This
year there were 24 young Yees arrived to our
Headquarters at 131 Waverly Place early, accompanied
by their parents. After their registration, they met
with our Santa Claus (Make-up by our Vice English
Secretary, Ronald Yee) to take pictures. At
around noon time, the ceremony begun with our
President Anthony Leong Yee gave a welcoming speech
in Chinese and English. He thanked the youngsters
and their parent to come to our Annual Yee Fung Toy
Family Association Christmas Party. He wished all
the kid to have a good time and hope they will
return to our association to serve when they got
older.
Afterward, Western Grand President, Sherman Yu
expressed the Association¡¦s gratitude for the
parents to bring their kids to our association. He
wished them a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
This year, thanks to our Elder Eddie, President
Anthony and Man-San increased the Christmas gifts
with more money so our kids will enjoy the event
even more. Again, thank you for your generosities. Also,
this year¡¦s Christmas Party was conducted at our
traditional Winter Solstices. This is a Chinese
tradition to have our family gathered to embrace the
winter. Our Association gave more than 200 servings
of traditional ¡§Tong Yuen¡¨ to our senior and kid¡¦s
family so they will enjoy this important heritage.
